A phenomenon called “Ulaganayagan” that came into existence on this very day (7th Nov) turns 54 years old. I am talking about “Kamal Haasan” who turns 54 today. His journey that started with Kalathur Kannamma is still going on. Nayagan which fetched him a national award has been listed as one of the 100 best films of all times. He went on to win two more national awards, taking his total count to three. He plans his fourth directional venture “MarmaYogi”, which is said to have a higher budget than his earlier flick “Dasavatharam”

He has not only contributed to Kollywood as an actor but also as a screenwriter, lyricist, playback singer, choreographer, director and producer. His personal setbacks have not been a hinderance to his professional performaces. His best contribution to society and mankind lies in the commited manner in which he does his things. He is unmoved by external criticism which is intended to curb his progress. He is probably the only actor to have converted his fans groups and clubs into a service organization. He is an actor with a social conscious.
