This post is about three acts of the government which reduced democratic set up to a shambles.
Cash for voters: Auction of MPs
.

.
This was a classic case of human auction, where MPs were paid crores of money to vote for the government during the vote of confidence. This was expected considering the legacy past Congress governments in bribing the opposition MPs during vote of confidence. But paying cash to MPs inside the parliament was something new and took Indian Democracy to “new lows”.
Jury becomes the advocate
.

.
MS Gill, the former “CEC” was sworn in as Union Minister for sports. The CEC is a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab and was sworn in April this year. A person who has held such a constitutional post should have rather restrained from taking such a post.
A Biased Referee
.

.
With Gopalswamy, the present CEC openly claiming the EC Navin Chawla is partial in favour of the ruling party, the institution and the whole process of election is set to lose its credibility.
With the elections due in May this year, no action is expected to be taken before that. The election commission will lose the credibility of having conducted free and fair elections all these years. If the incumbent government returns back to power, then jingle for the ruling party should not be “Jai ho Sonia” or “Jai Ho Rahul” but “Jai ho Navin Chawla”.
